A predawn domestic disturbance Saturday, Jan. 31, resulted in an arrest after law enforcement responded to reports of threats made during an ongoing dispute at a city residence.
Deputies of the Logan County Sheriff’s Office report Desmond E. Ramsey, 45, of Lima, was arrested for domestic violence following an incident reported at a Harrison Drive home.
Deputies were dispatched to the residence shortly after 5:10 a.m. after a caller reported that Ramsey, identified as a household member, was refusing to leave and making threatening statements. Upon arrival, deputies made contact with Ramsey, who was described in reports as highly intoxicated.
Investigating deputies reported that Ramsey made statements interpreted as threats to burn the residence, causing fear among occupants of the home. Deputies spoke with multiple parties at the scene, who indicated the behavior escalated during the early morning hours after Ramsey became upset about being locked out of the residence.
Ramsey was taken into custody without incident and transported to the Logan County Jail, where he was lodged.
No injuries were reported in the incident.
According to court records referenced in the report, Ramsey has two prior domestic violence convictions, elevating the charge to a first-degree misdemeanor.
Repeat OVI offender arrested
A Thursday afternoon, Jan 29, traffic stop led to an operating a vehicle under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs arrest after Logan County Sheriff deputies received a report of a possible impaired driver.
According to reports, the driver was identified as Lindsay Aungst, 35, of Lakeview, who was taken into custody following the stop at County Road 25 and County Road 5.
Deputies were alerted around 3:03 p.m. to a vehicle traveling eastbound on State Route 540. A caller reported assisting a female driver whose vehicle had been stuck in a ditch and then followed the vehicle while providing dispatch with updates on its location and driving behavior.
Deputies located the vehicle, a blue Chevrolet Malibu, after observing it traveling at a slow speed, crossing the center line, and making wide turns at intersections. The vehicle was stopped after additional traffic violations were observed.
Deputies reported signs of impairment, including confusion, difficulty following instructions, and bloodshot eyes. The driver declined to perform field sobriety tests.
Aungst was transported to the Logan County Jail, where an odor of alcohol was detected, according to the report. She later refused a requested urine test, resulting in an automatic license suspension. Her driver’s license was seized.
Aungst was cited with OVI, refusal with a prior conviction.
• A one-vehicle, non-injury crash was reported Friday, Jan. 31, about 5:20 p.m. on Township Road 93 at State Route 235.
Deputies report Taylor E. Mayes, 25, of Bellefontaine, was traveling southbound on T.R. 93 when her vehicle slid through a stop sign due to snowy conditions, struck a metal sign post, and became stuck in the snow.
No injuries were reported. There was funtional damage to the vehicle.
Mayes was cited for failure to control.
