A leukemia doctor who practices at the University of Cincinnati Medical Center, Dr. Bryan Hambley, pictured at the far left, is beginning a new foray into politics in a role he feels passionately about. Thursday evening, June 12, the Ohio Secretary of State candidate met with the Logan County Democrats at the their office at The Marketplace, 130 S. Main St., Bellefontaine, to discuss local issues and to introduce himself. As an oncologist who cares for leukemia patients, Dr. Hambley has helped hundreds of patients and families as part of a team of dedicated nurses, nurse practitioners, pharmacists and physicians. In that time, he said he’s seen how healthcare costs are bankrupting families, health insurance denials are delaying urgent chemotherapy, and rural hospitals and nursing homes are closing and leaving communities without quality care. The 40-year-old father of two with his wife Jana, said it’s the first time he’ll be on the ballot, but he has volunteered with campaigns in the past and he worked during the past year on the anti-gerrymandering amendment. The Democratic candidate is running against Republican Ohio Treasurer Robert Sprague in the Secretary of State race, which will be decided in the Nov. 3, 2026, General Election. Warren County resident Dr. Hambley said his stop in Logan County marks about 40 counties that he’s visited for his campaign, and related he will be back to Logan County again.
