Rickie “Rick” E. Dyer of Marysville, 72, formerly of Bellefontaine, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 31, 2023, at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center in Columbus, Ohio.

He was born in Kenton, Ohio, on March 28, 1951, to the late Robert “Red” Dyer and Lois Jean (Allen) Dyer.

He was a 1969 graduate of Bellefontaine High School and attended ITT Technical Institute in Dayton. After nearly 30 years, he retired from Navistar (International Harvester).

Rick had a talent and passion for woodworking and restoring old Chevy trucks from the 1960’s. He also spent countless hours restoring and remodeling homes and teaching himself how to repair computers.

He is survived by his daughters Jennifer Newman of Bellefontaine and Michelle (Brian) Gaerke of Findlay; grandchildren Seth Newman of Marysville, Lexi Newman of Russells Point, Collin Gaerke of Findlay, Brandon Gaerke of Findlay, and Madison Gaerke of Findlay; mother Jean Dyer of Bellefontaine; sister Valerie (Dale) Rhodes of Bellefontaine; and sister-in-law Debbie Dyer of Saint Petersburg, Florida.

Rick was preceded in death by his father Robert Dyer and brother Wesley Dyer.

Friends and family are invited to attend a Celebration of Life to honor Rick on Saturday, November 18, from 1 to 3 p.m. at the VFW, 216 Orchard Ave., Bellefontaine, Ohio. A private burial will be held at Bellefontaine Cemetery at a later date.

Arrangements are in the care of Jennings Farley & Seeley Funeral Home and Crematory.
