The West Liberty-Salem National Honor Society hosted another successful blood drive this month, and among the many students who stepped up to donate, one family made a particularly meaningful impact.
Siblings McKenzie, Maverick, and McKayla Reames participated together, highlighting the spirit of service that runs deep in Tiger nation.
This year’s drive saw 31 total donors, including 25 first-time donors, resulting in enough collected units to help save an estimated 93 lives. That marks a 63 percent increase over last year’s drive.
Throughout the day, NHS members assisted with sign-ups, registration, donor support and coordination with nursing staff.
Reames siblings’ decision to donate together inspired many of their peers and reflected the strong sense of family, leadership, and community that defines the school district.
“Seeing siblings come in together and model what it looks like to serve others truly embodies what our NHS stands for,” organizers shared.
“The WL-S community continues to demonstrate that giving back isn’t just an act — it’s a tradition, passed down student to student, family to family.”
District officials expressed appreciation to all who donated, volunteered and supported this life-saving effort.
