The first day of competition was held for regional track and field in Divisions I and III on Wednesday.
The Bellefontaine boys were at Huber Heights in Division I. The West Liberty-Salem girls. along with athletes from Riverside and Calvary Christian, were at Troy for Division III.
At Troy, Travis Brooks of Riverside won the discus with a throw of 151 feet, 9 inches. He will compete in the shot put on Friday.
For Calvary Christian, Elias Peterson, Christian Rogan, Brett Gildow and Nehemiah Dillon were 15th in the boys 4×200 (1:36.76), and Anna Knox finished 12th in the girls high jump (4-foot-8). On Friday, John Gaertner will run in the 800 meters.
In the one track final, West Liberty-Salem was 10th in the 4×800 relay. Arianna Weaver, Gwen McCullough, Isla Leichty and Mariska Smith had a time of 10:22.26.
Hattie Jacobs advanced to the finals in the 100 meter hurdles (16.66). She was 11th in the 300 hurdles (50.16).
Chloe Griffith won her heat in the 100 meter dash (12.49), and had a time of 26.35 seconds in the 200 dash, and will run in those events on Friday.
Also advancing was the 4×100 relay of Douthwaite, Jacobs, Ella Albers and Griffith with a time of 51.25.
In the 4×200, Douthwaite, McCullough, Jacobs and Griffith had a time of 1:50.04, winding up ninth.
Leichty runs in the 3200 and Weaver in the 800 on Friday. Elise Longshore and Tori Douthwaite will be in the girls pole vault.
Field events are at 4:30 p.m. and the track finals begin at 6 on Friday.

DIVISION I
Caleb Sechrest was sixth in the 300 meter hurdles with a time of 39.60 seconds and advanced to Friday’s final.
Ayden Clary finished third in the discus throw at 163 feet, 6 inches, which came on the third of his six attempts. Bellefontaine throwing coach Jim Robinson said, “I am very proud of Ayden. He competed at such a high level tonight. He is great to work with and we are both excited about having one more week to work.”
On Friday, Clary will compete in the shot put, while Hayden Maus will compete in the 1600 meter and 3200 meter runs,
