Phyllis Louise Legge Shaw, age 69, a longtime resident of Bellefontaine, passed away on March 27, 2023, in Marysville. She was born in Kenton, Ohio on October 23, 1953, to the late James and Helen Legge.
She is preceded in death by her lifelong partner and love of her life Darrell E Shaw Sr, her sister Sheila Coyer, and her brother James Legge. She is survived by her son Clarence “Buddy” Leroy Coyer, his wife Tina, and children Dasia and Jason. They filled her life with love and joy. Darrell’s children John Prater, Joey Shaw, and Darrell Shaw Jr survive as well as daughter-in-law Carol (Monte) Shafer.
Phyllis had many close friends and family members who blessed her life. In her final days many came to visit and show their love and share one last hug. Many called her mom, grandma, and aunt and all who encountered her were shown love and care in many ways no matter what the relationship. In addition to her own grandchildren Dasia Coyer and Jason Coyer she is survived by the grandchildren she shared with Darrell; Samantha Shafer and her children Cecilia and Roman, Andrew Kinney and his children Brailynn and Lillian, Megan Gibson (Gaven Morrison) her child Saoirse and Gavin’s child Brody, Danielle Shafer and her child Gracelynn. Additionally, her nieces Christina (Gary) Burt, with whom she shared a home in her final months, Hattie (Wayne) Smith, April (Shawn) Thomas, Misty (James) Lethcoe, and several great and great-great nieces and nephews survive.
A faithful believer in Christ, Phyllis rarely missed an episode of “In Touch” and will surely celebrate eternity in Heaven. She was also a big fan of the Bold and the Beautiful and the Young and the Restless. She enjoyed crafting and crocheting and spending as much time with family and friends as she could and would jump at the chance to go fishing if someone asked. Everyone who encountered Phyllis in their life was blessed to know her and she will be greatly missed.
