Indian Lake State Park employees report that park-maintained restrooms at Old Field Beach will be closed until further notice as a result of a vandalism incident.
ILSP Manager Hiedie Whitman said the vandalism was reported by a park patron and custodial staff shortly before 7 a.m. Thursday, July 10.
Whitman said both the men’s and women’s restrooms were damaged, and subsequently closed, with sinks busted off the walls and toilet paper and soap dispensers destroyed.
“It’s a shame we have to waste money on needless repairs that could be used to improve park facilities,” Whitman said.
She noted that none of the restrooms’ toilets were damaged.
The park manager estimated labor and material repair costs at approximately $4,000.
Vandalism incidents have also been reported in the past few weeks at Lake Loramie and to the new splash pad at Lock 9 Park in Piqua, Whitman said.
