The Logan County Board of Developmental Disabilities (LCBDD) welcomed a new member to the board during the July 10 meeting.

New member John Godwin was sworn in for service by Notary Linda Baker. He replaces former member Allen Huffman, who moved out of the area.

During the meeting, members approved several contracts and personnel updates critical to ongoing services in Logan County, including:

• Preschool education contracts with local school districts, room and board contract with CRSI, Early Intervention Evaluations and Assessments Contract with WestCon and several contracts with the MRESC for the 2025-2026 school year;

• Awarding the kitchen renovation project to Link Construction of Bellefontaine, with a winning bid of $154,070 following a recommendation from Mote & Associates; and

• Formally abolishing two positions: a nine-month administrative assistant role (due to internal transitions) and the therapy services coordinator position (restructured into a Preschool Manager and a separate Occupational Therapist role).

Superintendent Krista Oldiges also announced that several LCBDD staff have officially relocated to The Discovery Center building, located at 1973 State Route 47 West.

As of early July, the superintendent, executive assistant, business director, fiscal assistant, and human resources director are now operating out of the Discovery Center. The Service and Support Administration Department will complete their move after the kitchen renovation project concludes, expected by the end of November 2025.

This relocation was made possible after the Midwest Educational Service Center and the Family and Children First Council vacated their previous spaces within the building.

In addition to improved collaboration and communication by having all departments under one roof, this move will also bring cost savings to the board. By vacating the current Board Office, LCBDD will eliminate the ongoing expenses associated with maintaining two buildings, further promoting the board’s commitment to fiscal responsibility.

Superintendent Oldiges shared updates on the Blue Envelope Campaign, a new safety initiative in partnership with the Logan County Sheriff’s Office and Bellefontaine City Police Department.

The LCBDD board meetings are typically conducted on the first Thursday of each month at 5:30 p.m. at 1973 W. State Route 47 West, Bellefontaine.
