Celebrated in October, National Disability Employment Awareness Month serves as a reminder of the ongoing effort to ensure that individuals with disabilities are afforded access to rewarding job opportunities all year round.

This week, the Logan County Board of Developmental Disabilities is recognizing Ricky, who at just 19 years old, is already thriving in the workplace.

Recently hired at McDonald’s, Ricky has quickly discovered a job he absolutely loves — and his enthusiasm hasn’t gone unnoticed. In just over a month, he has already earned praise from his manager, who describes him as a “delight to work with.”

Ricky began his job preparing DoorDash orders, but has quickly expanded his skills. He now takes drive-thru orders out to waiting cars, has learned how to make French fries, and is even training on the cash register.

His dedication and eagerness to learn have made him a valuable part of the team.

Ricky’s career goals are ambitious and inspiring. He hopes to one day become an opening manager, taking on the responsibility of starting the day for the restaurant.

Beyond his own career growth, Ricky also wants to serve as a role model for others — proving that with hard work and determination, success is possible.
