Meth recovered during traffic stop

A Quincy man landed in jail following a traffic stop in the city Wednesday, Oct. 1, at about 6:03 p.m.

Officers of the Bellefontaine Police Department initiated a traffic stop on Craig C. Combs, 45, of Quincy, after Combs was observed making an illegal turn from Allen Road onto south Main St. Combs was stopped on the 1600 block of south Main Street and when questioned by officers, he admitted that he did not have a valid driver’s license.

Combs gave officers permission to search his vehicle, at which time they found a plastic bag tucked in the paneling that houses the window control and door locks of the vehicle. The substance in the bag field-tested to be methamphetamine.

Combs was then arrested and charged with possession of methamphetamine as well as a parole violation and lodged in the Logan County Jail.

A female passenger in the Combs vehicle was released at the scene.

  • Police also report the arrest of Michael Laux, 42, of Belle Center, at 11:56 a.m. Wednesday on the charge of public intoxication.
