Melissa “Missy” J. Grycza, 49, of rural DeGraff, OH passed away peacefully, Wednesday night, March 15, 2023, at her home after a long battle with breast cancer.

Melissa was born on February 26, 1974, in Kettering, OH, a daughter of Richard F. Erwin, who survives in Orlando, FL and Karla Evans, who survives in St. Petersburg, FL.

Missy is also survived by her life companion, Troy Gwilliams, two children, Braden Grycza and Breanna Wilhelm, both of Dayton, OH, a stepdaughter, Kennedy Gwilliams of Marysville, OH, two grandchildren, Nevaeh Wilhelm and Hudson Swingley, a sister, Elizabeth Erwin and a brother, Richard J. Erwin, both of Orlando, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Missy was a 1992 graduate of Beavercreek High School. She worked at Agiliti in Bellefontaine. She was an avid fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers. Missy enjoyed camping at Kamp-A-Lott Campgrounds, listening to music, playing cards and games, and having a good time with family and friends.

A memorial celebration of Missy’s life will be 7 p.m. Wednesday, March 22, at Shoffstall Funeral Home, 205 S. Main St., Lakeview with visiting from 6 to 7 p.m.

Memorial contributions may be given in Missy’s memory to the Stefanie Spielman Fund for Breast Cancer Research at Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center.
