Marvin “Sonny” Amos Wilcoxon, Jr., 75, of Bellefontaine passed away peacefully on Friday, September 13, 2024 at his home, surrounded by family.  He was born in Urbana, Ohio to the late Edna Mae Moore and Marvin Amos Wilcoxon, Sr.  He is also preceded in death by his brothers, Gary Wilcoxon and Philip Wilcoxon, and grandsons, Steve and Max.

On March 25, 1984, he married Peggy Sue McDonald, and she survives.

He is also survived by his children: Lee (Trayce) Wilcoxon, Shawn (Tiff) Wilcoxon, Josh (Jennifer) Wilcoxon, Jessica (Brennon) Jenkins, Dawn (Bill) Golla, and Steve (Mandy) Oppy; grandchildren: Alaxys (Travis) Markley, Slayde (Maria) Wilcoxon, Morgan (Garrett) Pickering, Maggie (Luke) Heath, Brenneke and Braelyn Wilcoxon, Sam, William and Ella Jenkins, Jack, Grace and Kate Golla, and Mia and Ava Oppy; great-grandchildren: Jack, Mady, Brody, Wylder, Violet, Vera, and with one on the way; sisters: Linda (Fred) Davis, Loretta (Denny) Kramer, and Cindy (Terry) Predmore; and many other nieces, nephews, friends and neighbors he loved dearly.

Sonny retired from Rockwell International in Kenton, Ohio in 2003 after 30 years of service.  In 1982, he also began his own construction business, which included roofing work, window installation, electrical work, plumbing work, flipping houses and he even served as General Contractor for one of his children’s homes, in which he took great pride.  He worked well into retirement and passed down years of skill, knowledge and work ethic to his children.

Sonny most enjoyed spending time with his family and attending his grandchildren’s sporting events, recitals and more!  He never liked to miss an opportunity to be a proud Papa!  Sonny also enjoyed fishing with his family, while sharing his big fish stories and knowledge of fishing lures.  He was also a collector of antiques and enjoyed finding a good deal (he loved sharing his good deal stories!).  Him and his wife, Peg, spent many weekends selling their antiques at local Flea Markets, where you could always find Sonny making a friend and giving history lessons on his treasures.  He will be deeply missed by all those who knew him.

A celebration of life visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, October 5, at the Jennings, Farley & Seeley Funeral Home, 5591 US-68, West Liberty, OH 43357.
