Zachary Henry, 36, of Troy, was arrested during a traffic stop Thursday, Aug. 29, and was subsequently transported from the Logan County Jail to Mary Rutan Hospital by Bellefontaine EMS that night after admitting to swallowing fentanyl pills.
About 9:30 p.m., officers were on patrol on Township Road 239 near U.S. Route 33 and conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle for an equipment violation.
Upon making contact with the occupants, a male passenger was asked for his identification for failure to wear his seatbelt. The male provided the officer with a false social security number. Eventually, officers were able to identify the male as Henry and he was found to have multiple warrants for his arrest.
He was taken into custody and transported to the jail. Once at the jail, the defendant began showing signs of impairment and admitted to corrections officers that he swallowed eight pressed fentanyl pills upon being pulled over.
A warrant for identify fraud was forwarded to the Logan County Prosecutor’s Office. Additional charges were requested.
