Joy King, 89, of Bellefontaine went home to be with her Lord on Wednesday January 29, 2025. She passed away at St Vincent Hospital in Anderson, Indiana after a brief illness.

She was born in Logan County, Ohio on September 4, 1935, to the late Lawrence R. and Mary Kathryn (King) Jones. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by a daughter, Penny L Cummins in 2013 and brother Jim “Moose” Jones.

On October 21, 1955, she married Robert R. King who preceded her in death, June 13, 2011. Joy was a homemaker for several years. They raised three children in West Liberty, Ohio. 

She was active in her church and several local organizations. God gifted her in musical ability. Particularly she loved playing the piano. She played for church services, musicals and many weddings. Later she and her late husband, Bob, sang and travelled with the King’s Harvest Singers. She also enjoyed cats and dogs and collecting angels.

Joy worked at the Treasurer’s office in Logan County, Ohio for many years before running for the office of Treasurer.  She was elected to two terms as County Treasurer. She continued to have many wonderful friends from this time in her life. She received much help from family and friends along the way for which she was most appreciative. Her family was very proud of her accomplishments.

She will be greatly missed by her surviving family, son, Scott (Victoria J.) King, daughter Faith (Carl) Willans, six grandchildren, Melissa A. (Nathan) Vollmar, Dane E. (Andrea) King, Deric A. (Sarah) King, Abigail J. Willans, Corey D. Cummins, Benjamin L. Cummins,  twelve great grandchildren, a brother, Jerry L. Jones, a brother-in-law, Dale E. King, several nieces and nephews, and cousins, Marilyn Lairsey, Joanna Watt and Helen T. King.

Pastor Ron Irick will officiate a funeral service on Tuesday, February 4,, at 11 a.m. in the Eichholtz Daring & Sanford Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 321 N. Main St., Bellefontaine, Ohio 43311. Visitation will be Monday, February 3, from 4 until 7 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be at a later date in Highland Memorial Cemetery, West Liberty.
