Joliece Reed voluntarily resigned Tuesday evening, Feb. 10, from the Bellefontaine Joint Recreation District board after 14 years of service.
Board president Pat Ellis said Wednesday that Mrs. Reed was not required to step down as a result of her husband, Rick Reed, recently being hired as parks superintendent.
Ellis noted, however, that Mr. Reed did need to resign from his position on the Bellefontaine City Schools Board of Education to avoid a conflict of interest between the two roles.
Ellis also clarified that the $7,050,000 figure previously reported by the Examiner for the new Hoffman Pool project represents the total project cost, not just the portion associated with Marker Construction.
The clarification followed action on City Ordinance 26-03, which authorizes a Construction Manager at Risk agreement and construction contract with Marker Construction for the Hoffman Pool project. Bellefontaine City Council waived the three-reading rule during its regular meeting Tuesday and passed the ordinance on first and final reading, adopting it unanimously. The total project cost is capped at $7,050,000.
