Indian Lake volleyball swept by Kenton Ridge

Indian Lake ran into a powerful Kenton Ridge team Tuesday, and suffered a 3-0 sweep in Central Buckeye Conference crossover volleyball play.
The Lady Cougars won the first two sets 25-15, then held off the Lakers 25-21 in the third.
Indian Lake is now 13-2 on the season.
Riley Ross had 14 digs and Addy Roby had 15 assists on the night.
Annie Rapp had five kills and three blocks, Cami Bailey and Courtney Altstaetter four kills each, Alivia Kinney four blocks, and Kit Miller three kills and 12 digs.
“They’re the best team that we’ve seen so far this season,” said Indian Lake coach Missy Mefford.
She praised the defense of the Lakers, noting that “our back row was scrappy. They were picking up a lot of balls. We just need to work on our play and blocking at the net.”
Kenton Ridge jumped ahead 6-1 in the first set. Indian Lake then rallied and got within two points, 7-5.
After more back and forth scoring, it was tied at 9. Kenton Ridge then seized control, winning 11 points to the Lakers’ three and taking a 20-12 lead.
The Lakers got a couple more points before the Cougars closed it out.
Indian Lake won the first point of the second set and continued to lead through the first portion.
With the Lakers up 7-6, Kenton Ridge got going with four straight points, then took five out of eight.
Indian Lake won three straight points, but the Cougars answered with a 8-0 burst that even a timeout couldn’t halt.
The teams then exchanged points as KR took a 2-0 lead.
The Lakers used god serving by Roby to grab a 5-0 lead to open the third set. After a timeout, Kenton Ridge claimed six out of seven points to tie it.
It stayed even until another scoring burst by KR, with runs of three and then seven to go ahead 19-10.
After trading points, the Lakers won four in a row, gave up two, then claimed five more. That left them down just three, 22-19.
They scored one more after a Cougars timeout, but the visitors won three of the next four to finish off the sweep.
In the JV match, Indian Lake won 25-9, 24-26, 25-14.
Indian Lake (6-0 CBC, 13-2) is at Shawnee this evening.

West Liberty-Salem 3, Madison Plains 2
West Liberty-Salem outlasted host Madison Plains in five sets in Ohio Heritage Conference play.
The Eagles won the first set 25-21, then WL-S took the second 25-20 and third 26-24. Madison Plains then won 25-12 to force it to the tiebreaker. That went to WL-S 15-13.
Naomi Cole had 14 kills, Ava Poppe eight, Kiersten Stoll seven, and Lilli Heminger five. Stoll had four aces and Poppe three.
Reagan Winters had 24 digs, Poppe 10, and Stoll 13. Lyndee Harrison and Sophia Landon got 17 assists each. Reese Winters, Kenna Wright and Emma Schmelzer also contributed to the win.
The junior varsity lost 25-20, 25-11 and the freshmen lost in two sets.
West Liberty-Salem (11-1 OHC, 13-3 overall) plays in an invitational at Graham on Saturday.

Bellefontaine 3, North Union 2
Bellefontaine got a five-set win over host North Union in CBC crossover action.
The Chieftains took set one, 25-17, with North Union winning the second 25-23 and Bellefontaine the third, 25-20.
North Union took the fourth 25-19, but Bellefontaine got the tiebreaker 15-11.
Kelsie Snapp had a career high with 29 kills along with 18 digs and four blocks.
Madi Zedeker and Presley Vigansky had five aces each, Ava Layman three and Snapp two.
Layman had 15 kills, 12 digs and two blocks. Zedeker provided 49 assists and nine digs. Flora had eight kills and six digs, plus two blocks, and Ari Rangel three blocks.
Jillian Ullom had 22 digs, and Vigansky had eight.
The junior varsity team lost 25-12, 25-4.
On Saturday, Bellefontaine (3-3 CBC, 13-3 overall) plays at Bethel. JV play begins at 10 a.m. with the varsity set for about 1 p.m.

London 3, Ben Logan 1
Ben Logan lost to visiting London in four sets. The scores were 25-27, 25-16, 25-18, and 25-19.
Abby Vance had 12 kills and Georgia Daniels 11 for the Lady Raiders, with six each by Caroline Spriggs and Annika Chappell and four by Storm LeVan. Kylie Harner had 16 assists.

Riverside 3, Northridge 0
Riverside got a win over host Northridge, 25-17, 25-7, 25-12 in a Three Rivers Conference match.
Zoey Ransbottom had 14 assists. Kara Klingler had 12 assists and five aces, Emilee Robinson four aces and six digs, Molly Carman six kills and Miah Carman five kills.
The junior varsity also won, 25-13, 25-8.
Riverside (2-7 TRC, 2-13) will host Troy Christian tonight.

Middletown Christian 3, Calvary Christian 0
Calvary Christian lost to Middletown Christian 25-10, 25-12, and 25-18 in a Metro Buckeye Conference match.
The Lady Spartans are 0-5 in the MBC and 1-12 overall. They play at Legacy Christian Academy tonight.
