First Fridays Bellefontaine has announced that the Hometown Christmas and Parade previously slated for Friday, Dec. 1, has been moved to Friday, Dec. 8, due to predicted inclement weather and difficulties in event and parade set up that the rainy conditions would pose.
“Following careful consideration and in collaboration with the city, we have decided to postpone the Christmas parade to Dec. 8.
“This decision, made after thorough assessment of Friday’s weather, city logistics and resource utilization, aims to provide ample time for participant notification,” representatives said Tuesday, Nov. 28.
“The event’s timing remains unchanged, scheduled from 4 to 8 p.m. We anticipate an incredible event next Friday.”
Pre-parade activities kick off at 4 p.m. Dec. 8, scattered throughout the downtown area, and they’re all free.
From 4 to 5 p.m., swing by the Logan County Chamber office, 100 S. Main St., to grab your complimentary activities passport. Dive into the festive spirit until 8 pm or while supplies last.
Write a letter to Santa at Richwood Bank, 120 E. Sandusky Ave.; craft an ornament at Homegrown Yoga, 115 N. Main St.; decorate a cookie at Relax Nail Bar, 130 W. Columbus Ave.; savor hot chocolate from Sweet Aromas, 120 E. Court Ave; create Reindeer Food with Aurora Wealth Advisors, 101 N. Main St.; snag a cookie from City Sweets & Creamery, 222 S. Main St.; get a temporary tattoo or pair of gloves from Fathom Reality, 114 S. Main St.; take a ride on Grandpa’s train, and don’t forget to pick up your glow stick for the parade from Four Acre Clothing, 102 S. Main St. Don’t miss the scavenger hunt on the other side.
Find 15 Christmas items scattered through downtown and turn into Candy Craze, 122 W. Chillicothe Ave., for a treat.
The parade, departing from the Logan County Fairgrounds and heading downtown, commences at 6 pm, so arrive early to secure your prime viewing spot.
While anticipating the parade’s start, enjoy treats from food trucks on site and immerse yourself in the festive atmosphere with additional holiday activities. Keep an eye out for Santa Claus himself, making a grand entrance to spread holiday cheer.
Following the parade, attendees can stop by The Photo Booth, 137 S. Main St., to get a photo with Santa.
