Officials from the Holland Theatre announced Friday, May 9, that the celebration event for the Holland Theatre previously planned for May 23 has been postponed, due to a delay in construction stemming from supply chain issues.

“We are so sorry to announce that, the Holland Theatre marquee celebration planned for May 23 has been postponed. We will let you know as soon as a new date is set and look forward to celebrating with you at that time,” Kris Swisher, Holland board president, and Jason Vogel, Holland interim director, said in an emailed statement.

The new marquee will restore the original look to the building, with modern LED technology. The original marquee was a striking feature of the theater when it opened in 1931. The blade was removed in the 1950s due to city code changes, and the rest of the marquee was removed in the 1960s due to street expansion and traffic.
