GOLF: West Liberty-Salem boys win tri-match

The West Liberty-Salem boys golf team got victories over Madison Plains and Northeastern in a three-way Ohio Heritage Conference match at Liberty Hills. 

The Tigers had seven golfers all shoot rounds in the 40s to produce the best team score in nearly 10 years.

They finished with a 169. Madison Plains had 193 and Northeastern had 206 for the team scores.

Sutton Wilcoxon led WL-S with a 40 and tied for medalist honors with a golfer from Madison Plains.

Braydon Thompson and Troy Christison each had rounds of 42, Devon Jones shot 45 and Brady Kauffman and Brock Burgel came in at 46 apiece.

West Liberty-Salem is 7-4 and travels to Northeastern today.

West Liberty-Salem 171, Greenon 195

West Liberty-Salem defeated Greenon on Tuesday at Locust Hills in OHC play.

Brock Burgel was the medalist with a round of 42. Braydon Thompson, Sutton Wilcoxon and Troy Christison each had rounds of 43. 

Other scores were Brady Kauffman (47) and Devon Jones (51).

Cooper Best led Greenon with a round of 45. Other scores were Evan Spence (46), Nathan Kaltenbach (50) and Logan Holmes (51).

Bellefontaine splits in tri-match

The Bellefontaine boys golf hosted Jonathan Alder and Urbana on Wednesday at Liberty Hills Golf Course.

Alder had a team score of 146, the Chieftains 177 and Urbana 183.

Collen Brugler had 38 for the low round, followed by Noah Smith (44), Kyle Boop (46) and Cody Hudson (49). Also in action were Christian Sterling (55) and Landon Severt (60).

Alder’s top four scores were Evan Reynard (34), Jackson Merriweather (36), Parker McBride (37) and Austin Merriweather (39).

The scores for Urbana were Ryland Davis (36), Jackson DeWitt (43), Pryce Bass (50) and Kelton McClain (54).

Tecumseh 174, Bellefontaine 196

Bellefontaine lost to Tecumseh at Windy Knoll on Tuesday.

Collen Brugler had the low round of 44 for the Chieftains, followed by Noah Smith (45), Kyle Boop (51) and Christian Sterling (56).

Other scores were Landon Severt (64) and Matthew Dearwester (68).

Chase Stafford of Tecumseh had 39 and was the medalist. Other scores were Carter Olinger (43), Corey Russell (46) and Lucas Doggett (46).

Shawnee 169, Ben Logan 242

Ben Logan lost to Shawnee in a Central Buckeye Conference match at Reid Park on Tuesday..

Drake Newland had a 55 score for the Raiders, followed by Dane Reffner (60), Colson Knight (63), Landyn Shields (64) and Jacob Frederick (69).

Sammie McAfee and Griffin Baggs were co-medalists with 41s for Shawnee. Other scores were Kaiden Roeder (42) and Camren Aker (45).

GIRLS

Graham 222, Ben Logan 230

Ben Logan lost to Graham in CBC play at Lakeland on Tuesday.

Catherine Bramlage and Kaylynn Crumm each had rounds of 56, with Annika Schmidt (58) and Leah Braddock (60) rounding out the team score.

Other scores were Sophia VanVoorhis (68), Bea Warren (70), Montana Coleman (67), Kaydence Hamilin (69) and Alayna Johnson (78).

Graham’s Riley Donnelly (47) was medalist, with Bayla Moffitt (50), Ellayna Little (58) and Hailey Langford (67) filling out matters.

Bellefontaine 197, Indian Lake 211

Bellefontaine defeated Indian Lake in CBC action on Wednesday.

Alex Kinney had a 48 for the Lakers, followed by Chloe Borgerding and Lily Michael with 54 each.

Bellefontaine’s low round was from Gillian Steele (40).

Riverside 224, Miami East 236

Riverside defeated Miami East in a Three Rivers Conference match Monday at Lakeland.

Reaghan McDaniel had a score of 39 and was the medalist. Lei Hurley was next at 53, followed by Adalynn Calaway (62) and Whitney Leatherman (70). Grace Owen had a 72.
