Food, fellowship and opportunities for children to enjoy the spirit of the Christmas season will be served up Saturday, Nov. 22. during a “soup kitchen” event taking place at three different locations around the county.
Knead More Massage, 466 County Road 11, Bellefontaine; Wake Up The World Ministry, 600 E. Brown Ave, Bellefontaine; and the Galilee Lutheran Church, 301 Lincoln Blvd. in Russells Points will be opening “soup kitchens” at their respective locations from 4 to 7 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 22.
All three locations will be serving meals free to the public during the hours of operation.
The “soup kitchens” are a brain child of Dustin Ragland, administrator of Facebook’s United Silent Majority of Logan County page.
Ragland explained why he organized the event.
“I wanted to bring back the community aspect to our neighborhoods,” Ragland said, “and think that’s there is no better way for people to connect than to sit down and eat food together. I thought this would be a great opportunity for people to meet their neighbors they don’t even know.”
Each site will have a variety of foods available and the Fun Company will be on hand at each location offering holiday activity for the kids.
Santa Claus all also be making an appearance at each of the “kitchens” and professional photographers will be on hand to offer free digital photos to those who wish to pose with the Merry Old Elf himself.
Again, there will be no cost for the meals and all are welcome to stop by and break bread with their neighbors and friends while anticipating the upcoming holiday season.
