Foreman named new Benjamin Logan transportation director

Benjamin Logan Board of Education members approved at a special meeting May 23 a one-year administrative contract, promoting bus driver Janie Foreman to transportation director. 

Foreman’s new contract begins June 2, and continues through July 31, 2025. 

“This reassignment reflects the district’s continued commitment to internal growth and professional advancement,” district officials said in a release. 

At the board’s last regular meeting, members accepted the resignation of former transportation director Art Daniels, effective May 11. 

Also at the special meeting that proceeded the Class of 2025’s commencement ceremony, certified staff member Tori Purk was granted a continuing contract beginning Aug. 1, 2025. In conjunction with this, a previously approved three-year limited contract for Purk was officially rescinded to reflect the change in contract status.

Members also approved overnight trip stipends for the eighth-grade Washington, D.C., trip, which took place from May 14-16. Staff members receiving stipends for their participation include: Natasha Anderson, Tom Braddock, Lora James, Laurie Kimmel, Jessie McCoy, Tori Purk, Deepika Scheiderer, Lisa Smith, Alison Spriggs and Linda Thompson.

In addition, the following instructors were approved for College Credit Plus for payment upon completion of their duties for the 2024-2025 school year: Jodie Kavanagh, Michelle Lane, Michael Kettler, Marianelly Hughes, Spencer Reames, Trisha Hemmelgarn, Joel Phillips and Jason Smith.

A supplemental contracts for middle school activities director was extended to Jamie Hughes for the upcoming school year.

The next regular meeting is 6 p.m. Monday, June 23.
