Driver transported from U.S. 33 crash

David M. Shamblin, 51, of Bellefontaine, was transported by Bellefontaine EMS to Mary Rutan Hospital for treatment of suspected serious injuries sustained in a crash Wednesday evening, Nov. 29, on U.S. Route 33.

Deputies of the Logan County Sheriff’s Office report Jeremy J. Gibson, 26, of Ottawa, Ohio, was operating a westbound 2014 Chevrolet Cruze near U.S. Route 68 about 8:25 p.m. behind Shamblin’s westbound 1994 Ford Ranger in the right lane.

Gibson reportedly made a lane change to the left lane and struck the rear of Shamblin’s pickup.

Gibson also was treated at the scene by Bellefontaine EMS personnel, but did not report any injuries. He was cited for failure to maintain assured clear distance ahead.

Damage was heavy to the pickup and the car, which were towed from the scene. Both drivers were wearing their seat belts.

• Morgan L. Styles, 34, of Russells Point, was transported by Indian Lake EMS to Mary Rutan Hospital for treatment of possible injuries sustained in a rollover crash Thursday, Nov. 23.

Deputies report he was operating a northbound 2017 Ford Explorer on State Route 235 near State Route 366 when he went off the south side of the road, entering the ditch. The sport utility vehicle overturned, causing heavy damage.

The SUV was towed from the scene. The driver was not wearing his seat belt, according to the crash report. Styles was cited for failure to control.
