David “Dog” Wilgus, 60, of Bellefontaine, passed away on Monday, June 24, 2024, in Lima Memorial Health Hospital.

He was born in Bellefontaine on December 25, 1963, the son of the late Donald William and Donna May (Norris) Wilgus. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by two sisters and three brothers.

He is survived by a son, Zach (Allegra) Bechtol of Belle Center, three grandchildren: Elijah Bechtol, Garrett Fultz, and Avannah Fultz, a sister, Becky Wilgus of Bellefontaine, two brothers, James (Sue) Wilgus and John (Laura) Wilgus, all of Bellefontaine, several nieces and nephews, his dog, Bear, and his cat, Sassy.

Dog worked as a bartender and bouncer for several different establishments around Bellefontaine and later went to work as a welder. He loved to party with his friends and enjoyed riding his motorcycle. He had a heart of gold, especially with kids and animals.

There will be a gathering of friends and family on Saturday, June 29, from noon to 3 p.m. at the Eichholtz Daring & Sanford Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 321 N. Main St. Bellefontaine, Ohio 43311. Burial will be private in Middleburg Cemetery, at a later date.
