He was born in Bellefontaine, Ohio on April 9, 1944, to the late Robert Vernon and Sue Marcella (Detrick) Lentz. His sister Linda Hanson preceded him in death in November of 2023.

On May 19, 1973, he married Ranae (Jones) Lentz and she survives.

Bob is also survived by their two sons Bill (Catherine) Lentz and Kyle (Becky) Lentz; grandchildren: Scarlett, Evelyn, Nora, and Benjamin.

Bob joined the Air Force in 1963 and served for four years. Bob retired after 30 years at Super Foods Services.

Bob was a graduate of Indian Lake High School and a member of the Kiwanis Club of Bellefontaine and past commander of Harold Kerr American Legion Post 173, Bellefontaine, where he served as Buckeye Boys State chairman for more than 25 years and a member of the Logan County Chamber of Commerce.

Lentz also served on the Logan County Children Services Board for 17 years and was a Deacon with the First United Presbyterian Church in Bellefontaine. Bob served as Mayor of Bellefontaine from 2000 for eight years after serving on Bellefontaine City Council for 16 years and served as finance chairman for 12 years.

After retirement, he spent most of his time gardening, supporting The Ohio State Buckeyes and spending time with his grandkids. He loved to travel all over and go to Michigan every year in May to gather mushrooms. We celebrate a life that was well lived.
