When Carter Daniels hits the runway, good things happen — and Saturday was no exception.
The Benjamin Logan senior rose above a crowded field at the Heidelberg University High School Indoor Track Meet, capturing first place in the long jump with a leap of 15 feet to outdistance 21 other competitors.
Daniels’ winning effort was the product of consistency, speed, and timing — all traits he’s been sharpening as the indoor season gains momentum. And the ceiling may be even higher. Earlier this week in practice, Daniels stretched things out to 15 feet, 6 inches as he continues chasing the 16-foot mark.
The senior’s focus remains on steady improvement and long-term opportunity. Daniels hopes his progress can open the door to competing at the next level, with aspirations that include the United States Military Academy or the United States Naval Academy.
