A Bellefontaine woman was arrested early Saturday, Feb. 21, for operating a vehicle under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs charge following a traffic stop in the city.

Officers of the Bellefontaine Police Department stopped a 2017 Honda CR-V, operated by Tori N. Levan, 31,  at about 1:20 a.m. after observing multiple traffic violations in the area of North Main Street and Sandusky Avenue.

The reporting officer stated the vehicle made a wide turn over a lane divider, appeared to be traveling at a higher rate of speed than posted, and later turned in front of a westbound tractor-trailer before accelerating north on Park Street. The vehicle eventually turned into an alley in the 300 block of North Park Street, where officers initiated a traffic stop.

Officers observed signs of impairment, including a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage, slurred speech, confusion, and difficulty completing divided-attention tasks.

Levan declined to perform field sobriety tests and refused a breath test after being transported to the police department, the report states.

Officers also reported locating empty containers of alcohol inside the vehicle.

Levan was cited for OVI. Her driver’s license was also seized and suspended for one year after refusing chemical testing.

She was released to a sober driver.
