Board of DD: New member welcomed, longtime member thanked for her service

The Logan County Board of Developmental Disabilities welcomed a new member and also expressed appreciation to an outgoing member at their November meeting at the LCBDD office. 

Chloe Grisez was administered the oath of office as a new board member, filling the vacancy left by Kelly Paxton.

The board also recognized outgoing member Valerie Robb for serving 12 years on the LCBDD. Robb has been a dedicated advocate for individuals with developmental disabilities, helping guide the board’s mission and initiatives to better support the community, officials said.

In response to the shortage of SNAP benefits, staff donated non-perishable items to establish a small food pantry to support individuals currently receiving services from the board.

Members reviewed and approved the financials for September 2025. The 2026 proposed budget will be presented to the Logan County Commissioners Nov. 25. 

Superintendent Krista Oldiges also shared the 2024 Annual Report for LCBDD with the Board.

The board received a grant from the Bureau of Workers’ Compensation that will be used to replace the entrance doors at The Discovery Center. 

The Discovery Center recently hosted a trick-or-treat event for the preschoolers.

The Early Intervention Department screened 5 children on Oct. 16 at the free Developmental Screening. 

As part of the Board’s annual required training, Liz Rose and Becky Robison provided a presentation on Intake and Eligibility prior to the board meeting.

Staci Nichols, human resources director, announced that applications are now being accepted for the community engagement coordinator position. Additionally, Brison Allmon has been hired as the new maintenance supervisor, beginning Nov. 3.

Members approved a facilities use agreement with the YMCA of Central Ohio, a contract with P.T. Services Rehabilitation, Inc. for therapy services, and an agreement with Verizon, which will help reduce costs. The board also approved the Ohio Department of Education and Workforce Special Education Model Policy and Procedure.

Other items approved were the 2026 Administrative Calendar and the LCBDD Board Meeting Schedule for 2026. Three job description revisions were approved including superintendent, custodian-driver, and community engagement coordinator.

LCBDD Board meetings are typically held the first Thursday of each month at 5:30 p.m. at 1973 State Route 47 West, Bellefontaine, OH. The board does not meet during December, and the next meeting is Jan. 29.
