
The Bellefontaine Middle School MATHCOUNTS team competed Saturday, Feb. 8, at the 42nd Annual Dayton Chapter MATHCOUNTS Competition at Wright State University.
BMS team members Max Miranda, Camden Vollrath, Nicolas Herrera Diaz and Ryder Hoskins joined 12 other schools around the Dayton Region to compete in various math skills and challenges.
Out of the 104 participants, Max and Camden finished in the top 25 percent.
MATHCOUNTS is an after school club at BMS that meets once a week for roughly an hour, coached by Lawrence Miller. Topics in the competition range from algebra, geometry, probability, number theory, and miscellaneous general math.
MATHCOUNTS is only available for sixth-, seventh- and eighth-grade students. Next season will start after Labor Day.
