Benjamin Logan’s boys and girls track and field teams both finished second in their own invitational Friday.
In the girls meet, Celina won with 168 points. The Raiders had 137.5 points for their second-place finish. Alder won with third (124), Kenton took fourth (94) and Kenton Ridge was fifth (51).
The Lady Raiders were led by three wins from Isabel Henderson, who was named the meet MVP. She took first place in the high jump (5-0), long jump (16-05) and 200 (26.46).
Also getting a win for Ben Logan was Kate Gulick in the 100 hurdles (11:01.57) and 300 hurdles (50.21).
Finishing in second for the Raiders were the 400 relay team of Gulick, Mya Burrey, Macy Matthews and Hannah White (52.59), the 1,600 relay team of Ella Chamberlain, Gulick, Mylee Boysel and Burrey (4:23).
Taking third were Mylee Boysel in the 400 (1:06.23), Georgia Bates in the 800 (2:36.65), and Alanna Gibson in the discus (110-09) and shot put (33-09).
Contributing fourth-place finishes for the Raiders were the 3,200 relay of Lexi Archer, Peyton Smith, Mylee Boysel and Estella Wenger (11:01.57), Hannah White in the 100 hurdles (17.59), Lauren Hemmelgarn in the shot put (30-09) and Burrey in the long jump (14-09.25).
Finishing in fifth were the 800 relay team of Mercedes Marcinko, Taytum Daniels, Macy Matthews and White (52.59), Chamberlain in the 400 (1:06.79), White in the 300 hurdles (53.90) and Burrey in the 200 (28.55).
Adding sixth-place efforts were Estella Wenger in the 3,200 (12:58.31) and Hemmelgarn in the discus (98-05).
“This was our last meet at our current track facility,” said Ben Logan girls head coach Mike Coder. “It turned out to be a fitting tribute to the current track facility and a look turned better things to come for Ben Logan track and field.”
Ben Logan’s boys team finished with 128 points, four shy of Jonathan Alder’s 132 points. Celina was third (118), Kenton was fourth (87.5) and Bethel finished fifth (53.5).
Riverside also competed and finished eighth with 30 points. Ben Logan’s B team was ninth with 19 points.
As they have all season, Sam Whitten and Yale Scheiderer led the way for the Raiders, earning co-MVP honors.
Whitten won the 100 (11.51) and Scheiderer won the 300 hurdles (42.71). They also team with Carter Buck and Ben Chamberlain to win the 800 (1:35.23).
Finishing second for the Raiders were Whitten in the 200 (24.24), Scheiderer in the 110 hurdles (16.51), Trevor Berry in the long jump (19-2) and shot put (46-6 1/4), Eric Hughes in the 1,600 (4:44.78), Chamberlain in the 400 (54.29) and the 400 relay team of Scheiderer, Whitten, Chamberlain and Berry (46.0).
Carter Daniels was third in the pole vault (12-6).
Contributing fourth-place finishes were Mason Jackson in the shot put (44-10), Ethan Miller in the long jump (17-11) and Carter Buck in the 300 hurdles (44.31), while fifth-place finishes went to Roman Maxwell in the high jump (5-4), Evan Carpenter in the pole vault (10-6), Buck in the 110 hurdles (17.65), the 3,200 relay team of Tyler Shoopman, Dylan Vance, Kendahl Stanley and Eric Hughes (9:17.67) and the 1,600 relay team of Vance, Hughes, Hunter Andrix and Chamberlain (3:43.45).
“We honored our seniors in our last home meet this season,” said Ben Logan boys head coach Kevin Butler. “I want to thank each senior for their dedication, leadership and commitment to the track program. A lot of goals have been accomplished, hard work put forth, but most importantly, some great memories have been made.”
