The B-Town Bots robotics teams from Bellefontaine High School and Bellefontaine Middle School competed this past weekend at the Rumble in the Hangar VRC event at Shenandoah High School, and three teams earned spots at the upcoming Ohio State Vex Robotics Competition March 8 and 9.

This event hosted 32 teams from 10 schools for a combined middle and high school event. Bellefontaine dominated the tournament and the Excellence Award categories with tournament champion alliance teams of 9185A- F.O.A.M. and 9185B- BIOHAZARD.

F.O.A.M is made up of junior: Alex Cavanaugh, sophomores: Ryann Gatchel, Lorenz Henry, Hayden Maus, and Mason Swisher. BIOHAZARD is made up of freshmen: Dalton Frazier, Alex Sandoval, Andy McDonald, and Brayden Studnicki.

Both 9185A and 9185B will be advancing to the state contest next month.

In addition, middle school teams of 7865E Slurp-Ez and 7865C Microsoft had an incredible day competing against middle and high school teams where they ended the qualifications round in fourth and fifth places, respectively.

They had a strong showing in the knockout competition, but we’re unfortunately defeated in a close match by the Bellefontaine High School alliance noted above.

Slurp-Ez is composed of 8th graders: Trinity Fout, Marek Frazier, Brody Miranda, and Cody Robb and Microsoft is made up of eighth- graders: Hayden Argabright, Will Gates, and Graham Trittschuh and seventh-grader Charlie Moreland.

Slurp-Ez also earned a spot at the Ohio State Vex Robotics.

Five other middle school teams had a great day of competition and represented themselves, their school, and community well, their advisers noted.
Feb. 17, all B-Town Bots team also will be in competition, some at Milford Schools VRC event and 9185A at the Launch signature event at the Great Lakes Science Center in Cleveland.
