Berdonna Louise Hughes, 94, of Huntsville, OH, passed away peacefully while surrounded by her family, Monday night, September 8, 2025, at Logan Acres Care Center, Bellefontaine, OH.
Berdonna was born on April 8, 1931, in Ottawa, OH, a daughter of the late Oscar and Hilda Veronica (Huegel) Meyers. She married Ralph Hughes, and he preceded her in death in 2012. She was also preceded in death by a sister, Erma Lange.
Berdonna is survived by four children, Mike (Beth) Roth, Deb (Brent) Jeffers, Bob Roth, and
Nancy Roth, four stepchildren, Jeff Hughes, Lee Ann Lusby, Gene (Marti) Hughes, and David (Kandi) Hughes, John James, whom she treated like a son, 14 grandchildren, five great grandchildren, a brother, Eugene Meyers, and several nieces and nephews.
Berdonna was a 1949 graduate of Washington Local School in Lewistown. She worked at Beatley’s, B & C Restaurant, and worked at the United States Postal Service and retired after 35 years of service. Berdonna had moved to Indian Lake as a teen and fell in love with the area. In her earlier years, she enjoyed go to the dance halls around Indian Lake.
Berdonna enjoyed cooking, tending to her flower gardens, and loved all animals. She was extremely fond of living on Indian Lake, hosting family gatherings and parties at her home, and boating. She loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.
A gathering of remembrance will be from 4 to 6 p.m. Monday, September 15, at Shoffstall Funeral Home, 205 S. Main St, Lakeview. Private inurnment will be in Huntsville Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given in Berdonna’s memory to Logan Acres Foundation, 2739 County Road 91, Bellefontaine, OH 43311.
