Ben Logan, Bellefontaine run well in tri-meet with Urbana

Bellefontaine and Benjamin Logan’s track and field squads traveled to Urbana for a tri-meet on Wednesday night.

The Ben Logan girls scored 74 points for first, with Bellefontaine having 62 and Urbana 33.

The Lady Chieftains’ Kelsie Snapp set a school record in the shot put, with a winning throw of 42 feet, 1 1/2 inches. She also won the discus (121-5).

Ben Logan’s event winners were Kate Gulick in the 100 hurdles (17.00) and 300 hurdles (51.25); and Abby Vance in the 100 dash (13.13) and 200 (27.04), as well as the 4×100 relay of Gulick, Nahla Payne, Scarlett Elliott and Storm LeVan (54.41).

Other placers were Jazzy Richardson, 4th 100 hurdles; Scarlett Elliott, 3rd, 100 dash; Peyton Smith, 2nd and Gwendolyn Smith, 4th in the 1600; Ella Chamberlin, Lexi Archer, and Lottie Bodin, second through fourth in the 800; Maille Ricketts, 4th, 300H; Nora Elliott, 3rd, 800; and Aleah France, 3rd, 200; 

In relay events:

4×800 (2nd) — Bodin, Montana Coleman, Lucy Johns, Gwen Smith

4×200 (2nd) — Archer, France, Mercedes Marcinko, LeVan.

4×400 — Bodin, Coleman, Johns, Smith; and Archer (3rd), Estella Wenger, Molly Siefring, Nora Elliott (4th).

Other individual event winners for Bellefontaine were Callie Shumaker in the 100 hurdles (16.43); Grace Brown in the 1600 (5:30.07); Kaeleigh Flora in the 800 (2:33.50); Rylie Reames in the high jump (4-8).

Getting first in relay events were the 4×800 team of Flora, Kailyn Newman, Hannah Wilson, and Brown (10:45.38) and the 4×400 combo of Flora, Brown, Shumaker and Jillian Ullom (4:23.09).

Also placing in the top four were Sloan Stolly, 3rd, 100 hurdles; Ullom, 2nd, 100 dash; Cece Reier, 3rd, 1600; Brooklyne Kuntz, 3rd, 300 hurdles; Wilson, third, 800; Shawna Burnell, third in high jump and long jump; Flora, third in pole vault and Naomi Washburn, fourth in the discus.

The 4×100 relay of Kailyn Foulk, Ullom, Ryann Gatchel and Stolly was second.

In the boys’ competition, Bellefontaine had 76 points, Ben Logan 68 and Urbana 31.

For the Chieftains, individual event winners were Caleb Sechrest in the 110m hurdles (16.36) and 300m hurdles (40.72), Caden Snapp in the 100m dash (11.70), Oliver Grandstaff in the 1600m run (4:57.41), Hayden Maus in the 800 (2:05.55), Kaden Foulk in the 200m dash (23.65), Ayden Clary in the shot put (46-2) and discus (138-1), and Jeffrey Smith in the pole vault (10-7).

Bellefontaine won the 4×800 relay with Grandstaff, Jake Moreland, Landon Gerwels and Maus in a time of 9:11.70.

Other placers were Brandon Wong and Terrance Hayes, third and fourth in the 110 hurdles; Will Myers and Brenden Murray, second and third in the 1600; Dillon Jones, second in the 200; Kaden Lawry, fourth in high jump; Smith, third in long jump;  and Moreland, Gerwels and Murray, who took second through fourth in the 3200m run.

The 4×100 relay of Smith, Sechrest, Snapp and Dillon Jones was second.

For Ben Logan, Roman Maxwell won the high jump (6-0) and Collin Powell took first in long jump (19-9). Also first was the 4×100 relay of Powell, Wyatt Predmore, Dylan Vance and Everett Clapsaddle (44.47).

In field events. Gus Bibart was second in discus and third in shot put; Jaxon Bowman, 4th, discus. Ethan Miller and Talan Archer were second and third in high jump; Grashyn Bailey was second, with Bradyn White and Elliott Carpenter tied for third in pole vault; and Miller was second and Maxwell fourth in long jump.

On the track, Cooper Buck was second in the 110 and 300 hurdles; Dylan Vance, Everett Clapsaddle, and Candin Tucker took second, third and fourth in the 100 dash; Maxwell Troth was fourth in the 1600; Eric Hughes and Owen Jordan, third and fourth in the 400; Jerrik Stephens, third and Maxwell, fourth in 300 hurdles; Owen Weaks third and Michael Berry, fourth in the 800 and Tyler Shoopman, third in the 200 dash.

The other relay teams each finished second.
