A 23-year-old Belle Center man was arrested late Sunday night, Jan. 26, after deputies responded to a report of an intoxicated male possibly armed at a residence in the 300 block of E. Main Street.
According to the Logan County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were dispatched shortly after 11 p.m. Family members reported the man had returned home highly intoxicated and was believed to have a handgun.
Deputies located Trenton A. Van Natta inside the residence and noted signs of heavy intoxication, including slurred speech, a strong odor of alcohol and difficulty maintaining balance. A search of the bedroom area uncovered a Taurus 9mm handgun and magazine near the bed, along with a box of 9mm ammunition. The firearm and magazine were unloaded.
Van Natta was taken into custody and charged with using weapons while intoxicated, a first-degree misdemeanor. Deputies reported he required physical assistance while being escorted to a cruiser due to his level of intoxication.
He was transported to the Logan County Jail, where he was lodged.
