Barbara Pearl Newland, 80, of of Rushsylvania, passed away on Thursday, November 9, 2023, at the Logan Acres Care Center.

She was born on December 13, 1942 in Big Springs, Ohio to the late Lewis and Opal (Predmore) Royer. She married Robert Eugene Newland on July 29, 1960 and he preceded her in death on June 22, 2004.

Surviving are her daughters; Angela (Rod) Gaver of Ridgeway, Robin Newland of Rushsylvania, Diana (Michael) Shepherd of Zanesfield, sister; Sandy (Lowell) Buck of West Liberty, 8 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by a grandson, Shane Harmon, sister, Geraldine Snyder and brothers, Lewis and William Givens.

She owned and operated Barb’s Beauty Shop in Big Springs.

Barbara was a member of the First Church of God in Ridgeway that she had attended for many years. She also spent time volunteering at the voting polls.

She enjoyed going for walks and staying active. She loved to help people and wanted to stay in touch with everyone.

Funeral services for Barbara will be at 1 p.m. Thursday, November 16, at the First Church of God in Ridgeway with Pastor Tim Kohl officiating. Burial will follow at Grove Cemetery in Kenton. Friends and family may visit two hours prior to the services at the church.

The Price-McElroy Funeral Home in Kenton is assisting the family with arrangements.

Memorial contributions in Barbara’s honor may be made to Universal Hospice or First Church of God in Ridgeway.
