DUNKIRK — Two people died Monday evening, March 2, in a head-on crash on U.S. Route 68 near State Route 701 south of Dunkirk.
Deputies of the Hardin County Sheriff’s Office responded about 5:49 p.m. to a report of a two-vehicle crash. Upon arrival, deputies determined a 2004 Volkswagen Passat and a 2014 Buick Encore had collided head-on.
Deputies said a northbound Buick on U.S. 68 driven by Dori Spencer, 66, of Dunkirk traveled left of center and struck a southbound Volkswagen operated by Owen Bame, 27, of rural Dunkirk head-on in the southbound lane.
Both drivers were pronounced deceased at the scene.
Assisting at the scene were BKP Ambulance District, Dunkirk Fire and EMS, Kenton Fire Department, the Hardin County Coroner’s Office and Minich Towing.
The crash remains under investigation.
