A Zanesfield man was arrested following a reported domestic incident about 10:30 a.m., Monday, Feb. 16 at 4000 Alpine Parkway in the Mountainview Mobile Home Park.
Deputies of the Logan County Sheriff’s Office reported the caller said Austin Miller, 30, assaulted his mother and her fiancé before leaving the residence and going to another trailer in the mobile home park.
Upon arrival, deputies contacted the fiancé, who was visibly upset and had redness and swelling on his forehead. He said the incident began after an argument between Miller and his mother over missing items from the kitchen counter. He reported hearing arguing, followed by a loud thud and screaming, and said Miller struck him in the head multiple times when he attempted to intervene.
Deputies also spoke with Miller’s mother, who said her son attacked her in his bedroom after she confronted him about the missing items. She reported being struck several times in the head and complained of pain to her head, hand, and wrist. Deputies observed swelling and redness on her scalp.
Photos were taken of the injuries and the area outside Miller’s bedroom, where deputies reported finding a necklace on the floor and damage to a bathroom door that had not been present previously. Marijuana smoking devices and empty beer cans were also observed inside Miller’s room.
The suspect was transported to the Logan County Jail, where he was lodged.
Both victims provided written statements and said they wished to pursue charges.
Miller later told deputies he was attacked by his mother and fled for safety, and an injury to his hand was photographed.
