The Benjamin Logan Lady Raiders made the short trip Wednesday, Jan. 7 to Bellefontaine for a Central Buckeye Conference crossover matchup, squaring off against the Chieftains in a competitive junior varsity and varsity doubleheader.
In the junior varsity contest, Benjamin Logan dropped a hard-fought overtime decision, 31–26. The Lady Raiders had chances late but couldn’t quite close the door in the extra session.
Jozie Taylor led the way with seven points, followed by Addison Kuhn with six and Madison Shields with four. Despite the setback, the Lady Raiders’ JV squad moves to 7–3 on the season and will look to rebound Saturday against Graham.
The varsity game proved just as tight, with Benjamin Logan falling 37–33 in a contest that featured multiple momentum swings. The Lady Raiders trailed by 11 at halftime but responded with a strong third quarter, battling back to take a 27–26 lead heading into the final period.
Foul trouble became a key factor in the fourth quarter, sending Bellefontaine to the free-throw line eight times. The Chieftains converted enough opportunities at the stripe to hold off the Lady Raiders’ late push.
Kylie Harner paced Benjamin Logan with a game-high 17 points. Adilynne Gregg added six points, while Rylan Norviel and Joplin Schneider each chipped in five.
Benjamin Logan will look to regroup quickly, as the varsity Lady Raiders travel to Indian Lake on Friday night for a conference matchup with the Lakers. Tip-off is scheduled for 6 p.m., followed by the boys varsity game.
