Bellefontaine High School hosted the Jimmy Mac Invitational on Saturday.
Twelve wrestling teams competed in the annual event, which is named after former longtime BHS wrestling coach Jim McDonald.
Jim passed away in 2021.
Kyle Spence presented this year’s Jimmy Mac Award to Greg Newkirk.
The award goes to a supporter of the Bellefontaine High School wrestling program.
Newkirk is best known for volunteering his time to help run tournaments, set up tournaments, lending his vehicles and trailers to move/transport mats, and has even helped coach at some offseason events for the Chiefs.
BHS head wrestling coach Aaron LaBatt added, “Greg is a jack of all trades. He has always helped with whatever we’ve asked of him for the last 10-plus years.”
Newkirk graduated from BHS in 1993.
As a team, Bellefontaine finished 6th at the Jimmy Mac Invitational on Saturday.

Junior Ricky Smiley (132) led the Chiefs by finishing runner-up.
He recorded 2 pins.
Nicholas Beair (144) placed 3rd.
Maddox Keith (138) earned 4th.
Braidyn Coulson (126) finished 5th.
Andrew Larison (157) and Hunter Werling (165) each placed 6th.
