After receiving a complaint filed by the Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) on Nov. 18, detectives from the Bellefontaine Police Department launched an investigation which ended with the arrest of a Bellefontaine man Tuesday, Dec. 9.

According to the BPD report, ICAC filed the complaint against Ethan B. Gilmore, 24, of Bellefontaine, which led detectives to begin an investigation into Gilmore’s online activities. Based on that investigation, a search warrant was obtained and was executed at Gilmore’s home Tuesday.

Detectives report that following the execution of the search warrant many items of evidence were seized, including a computer and its hard drive, after which Gilmore was arrested and lodged in the Logan County Jail on the charges of disseminating matter harmful to juveniles/pandering obscenity involving a minor; and creating, producing, and/or publishing obscene material.

Gilmore remained lodged in the Logan County Jail as of Thursday afternoon.
