BCS thanks Wilson during her final meeting

The Bellefontaine Board of Education thanked an outgoing board member for her service during their last meeting of 2025 Monday evening, Dec. 8. 

Karen Wilson served on the board for 5 1/2 years. Initially, she was appointed to fill the unexpired term of Anne Reames in 2020, and then reappointed in January 2022.

“I appreciate Karen’s leadership and service the last 5 1/2 years,” Superintendent Brad Hall said .

Wilson was presented a commemorative apple in appreciation of her service.

“I have learned so much about how schools work. I’ve grown a ton, and I’m so grateful,” she said. 

Wilson’s successor is Rick Reed, who was elected last month. 

The board approved monthly financial reports, and several personnel items were approved as well. 

Krista Adelsberger was appointed as the BCS representative on the Ohio Hi-Point Career Center Board of Education. Adelsberger will succeed Anne Reames, who is retiring at the end of the month.

In other action, the board: 

• added to the professional substitute list at BCS: Ally Barker, Taylor Banta, Caitlyn Brown, Rosalind Brown, Gay Brunswick, Kristen Elton, Margaret Erickson, Lori Fetter, Phil Forsythe, Nicholas Frazier, Frank Giannola, Allen Hadley, Tricia Hefner McCutcheon, Virginia Hostetler, Tracy Janco, Kendra Kennedy, Ava Klingler, Cadence Latimer, Dominic Latimer, Robin Louden-Henry, Alexis Miller, Shianna Miller, Kristy Mount, Erin Short, Julia Nelson, Lillie Belle Elliot, Meagan Neal, Beth Overs, Cadence Pauk, Parker Penhorwood, Isaac Pennymon, Kassi Prine, Melanie Rapp, Polly Rodenhausen, Tom Rose, Adrienne Siler, Karl Smith, Mary Smith, Stacia Smith, Olivia Starkey, Sharon Traul, Tierra Tucker, Ashley Vicario Holtkamp, Tayteum Vigansky, Mark Wahl, Elizabeth Whitehead, Rick Whitehead, Mikaela Young, Jane Younkman, Tiffany Boop, and Avani Abyhankar;

• Valerie Burton was hired as a substitute food service worker and a substitute educational aide;

• accepted Haiden Manns’s resignation as an educational aide; 

• extended the following supplemental contracts: Brooke Bahr, middle school basketball sideline cheer; Brian Timpe, musical production assistant; and approved Dean Whetsel as a volunteer high school boys basketball coach; and 

• recognized December Seniors of the Month Kaeleigh Flora and Patrick Stolly; they each received an achievement pin and a $15 gift card to Ron’s Pizza; Kaeleigh plans to study pediatric medicine; and Patrick will pursue a degree in business;

Board President Colin Yoder was elected president pro-tempore for the next board meeting, which was set for 6:30 p.m. Monday, Jan. 12, in the Sloan Distance Learning Center at BHS. An organizational meeting will be followed by the monthly meeting that evening.
