MARYSVILLE — Troopers of the Marysville Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol is currently investigating a two-vehicle fatal crash that occurred Sunday evening Nov. 16, on Hyland Croy Road near Johnston Drive, in Jerome Township, Union County.
Claudia Phan, 17, Dublin, was pronounced dead at the scene by the coroner’s office, troopers said.
The preliminary investigation revealed a 2016 Kia Forte, operated by Claudia, was traveling northbound on Hyland Croy Road and traveled left of center striking a 2017 Ford Explorer that was traveling southbound on Hyland Croy Road.
The Ford Explorer was operated by Jason Lyle, 37, of Lewis Center. Both the Kia Forte and Ford Explorer traveled off the right side of the roadway.
Lyle was transported by ground ambulance to Riverside Methodist Hospital with serious injuries. The front seat passenger of the Ford Explorer, Ashley Lyle, 34, Lewis Center, was transported to Riverside Methodist Hospital with minor injuries.
Two children were passengers in the Ford Explorer and were transported to Nationwide Children’s Hospital in Columbus with minor injuries.
The Ohio State Highway Patrol was assisted at the scene by Jerome Township Fire Department, Pleasant Valley Fire Department, Norwich Township Fire Department, Northwest Towing and Recovery and the Union County Coroner’s Office.
