SIDNEY — A driver was killed and his passenger seriously injured Saturday afternoon, Nov. 15,  when the sport utility vehicle they were in crashed and overturned while fleeing authorities in Cynthian Township, officials said.

The victims were identified as Tre’Sean L. Clemons, 25, of Kettering, who died at the scene, and 19-year-old Aaliyah Davis of Piqua, who was flown by CareFlight to Miami Valley Hospital with serious injuries.

The incident began around 4 p.m. after troopers of the Piqua Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol alerted Sidney police that a vehicle linked to an armed robbery had been spotted on State Route 47.

Officers located the suspect vehicle — a 2021 Dodge Durango — at the Clark gas station on Michigan Street near I-75, but Clemons drove off as they approached. While fleeing west on State Route 47 and multiple county roads, the vehicle left the roadway in the 5000 block of Cardo Road near Dawson Road, struck a ditch, and rolled several times.

Clemons was ejected from the SUV during the crash.

Sidney Police, the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office, Sidney Department of Fire and Emergency Services, Fort Loramie Fire and  Rescue, CareFlight, the Shelby County Coroner’s Office, and Bushnell’s Collision and Towing responded.

Troopers are investigating the crash, while Sidney police continue to investigate the events leading up to the incident.
