It’s an impressive display. So much so, it’s hard to decide which option to bid on. Of course, the women at Kelley’s Designer Loft wouldn’t mind if you put money into all of them.
The Bellefontaine salon’s annual Christmas raffle is currently accepting bids. After spending the month of October accepting donations, they now have everything presented in groups — from a cook’s corner to a travel package to a men’s basket.
This is the salon’s ninth year. Over the previous eight years, they’ve raised $93,000 to donate to local charities. Their goal this year is to add enough to cross the $100,000 mark. And, according to Kelley Yule, owner, they’re well on their way.
When Yule and the two other stylists, Darla LeVan and Kim Summers, started the raffle, they hoped to raise a couple hundred dollars. To their surprise, $1,800 came in.
“By the third year, we had people wanting to donate,” Yule said. “It became a yearly thing and now it’s turned into this — the best year for donations yet.”
Yule estimated the men’s basket is probably the most valuable with around $3,000 in items, including a large cooler, bottles of whiskey, a gun and two tickets to the Dec. 28 Cleveland Browns vs. Pittsburgh Steelers football game.
You have the month of November to buy your tickets. Stacey Stahler at Bella Studio 319 is selling raffle tickets as well. The drawing will be conducted live via Facebook on Thursday, Dec. 4, at 7 p.m.
After the raffle, the three stylists will decide which local charities to support this Christmas. Yule emphasized they “always do gifts for kids.” Other needs they’ve donated to in the past include prescriptions for the elderly, the Logan County Cancer Society and gifts to residents of nursing homes.
