Veterans Day celebrations around Logan County include:
• Logan County veteran celebration — 11:11 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 11, begins outdoors by the Logan County Courthouse, ceremony moves inside to the Holland Theatre for featured speaker, Staff Sgt. Carl C. Adams, assistant operations chief, Marine Corps Security Forces Training Company, who is a Bellefontaine native; free lunch for veterans follows at the American Legion Post 173, Bellefontaine, a meal that includes pork cubed steak, mashed potatoes and gravy and a vegetable.
• Amvets Post 39 veteran ceremony, celebration — Ceremony begins at 11:11 a.m., Tuesday, Nov. 11, at the Amvets, 110 W. Harrison St., Lakeview; free lunch will be served at the Amvets following the ceremony, provided by the Downtown Lakeview Business Group.
• Benjamin Logan Schools veteran celebration — 8 to 10 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 11, at Benjamin Logan High School; students in grades 4–12 will participate in honoring, celebrating the service and sacrifices of our nation’s veterans; guests can make reservations by calling the high school office at (937) 592-1666.
• Riverside Schools veteran breakfast, ceremony — Doors open at 8 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 11, breakfast served in the cafeteria from 8:15-9 a.m., followed by the veteran celebration in the gym at 9 a.m.; attendees should park on the east side of the school building closest to the high school gym, student council members will greet you and direct you to the right location.
• Indian Lake Schools veteran lunch, ceremony — Noon Tuesday, Nov. 11, Indian Lake High School; veterans and their guests are invited to an afternoon of celebration honoring those who served and those who are currently serving with a hearty lunch followed by an assembly; as part of the ceremony, the Logan County Commissioners will present a flag flown at the courthouse to an honorable Indian Lake veteran; make reservations with your name, branch of service and guests who will be attending, by Friday, Nov. 7; call the school at (937) 686-8851 ext. 4215 or the high school office with your information.
• West Liberty-Salem Schools veteran breakfast — 8 to 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 11, West Liberty-Salem Leadership Council invites all veterans and current service members, along with students and community members who have family currently serving or who have served; Retired Lt. Col. Douthwaite is the guest speaker, and guests will enjoy special performances by members of the West Liberty-Salem Music Department; breakfast, beverages generously provided by the West Liberty-Salem FFA; attendees are asked to make reservations by Nov. 6 by calling (937) 465-1140.
• Bellefontaine City Schools Veterans Day Field of Honor — Nov. 7-14, area veterans will be honored at this annual display at Blue Jacket Park.
