Upon arrival, crews found a two-story residence at 608 Florence Ave., fully engulfed by flames. All off-duty personnel were called in, as well as mutual aide from Huntsville Volunteer Fire Department.
A male and female occupant escaped the residence, but were transported to an area hospital for treatment of smoke inhalation.
No other injuries were reported.
Heavy damage was reported to the home.
Firefighters report the home had at least one working smoke alarm, which helped to alert the residents of the blaze.
Crews were on scene for approximately five hours and firefighters continue to investigate the cause of the fire.
According to the Logan County Auditor’s Office, the property is owned by Elizabeth Brown of Springfield.
