Deputies respond to crashes

Deputies of the Logan County Sheriff’s Office responded to a pair of minor injury crashes Sunday, Oct. 19. 

Nathan Beach, 39, of Huntsville, was driving a 1998 Acura TL northbound about 5:05 a.m. in the 5200 block of Township Road 56 when the vehicle went off the right side of the road and struck a utility pole. 

Beach, who was wearing a seat belt, was treated at the scene for his injuries. 

He was cited for failure to maintain control. 

Damage to the car was disabling and it was removed from the scene by Shafer’s Towing.

* A Bartlesville, Okla., man sustained minor injuries in a one-vehicle crash about 10:45 a.m. in the 400 block of County Road 200. 

Joseph Johnson, 32, was driving an eastbound 2008 Ford F-350 truck when it went off the left side the the road and struck a utility pole and several trees before coming to rest. 

Johnson, who was wearing a lap belt, was transported by Macochee Joint Ambulance District to Mary Rutan Hospital. 

He was cited for failure to maintain control. 

Wren’s Towing removed the disabled truck from the scene. 

Vehicle crashes into residence 

An unoccupied vehicle rolled from a driveway around 7:40 p.m. Friday, Oct. 17, at 9016 Oatman Dr., Lakeview, and struck the home.

No one was injured, deputies report. 

Damage to the 2016 Chrysler Town & Country minivan, owned by Belle Center resident Michael Risner, was minor. 

Information about damage to the home was not immediately available.

Driver arrested for OVI after speeding on U.S. 33

A Bellefontaine man was arrested for operating a vehicle under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs early Saturday, Oct. 18 after he was stopped for speeding and driving erratically on U.S. Route 33.

Deputies of the Logan County Sheriff’s Office stopped Cody S. Hawkins, 30, around 4:10 a.m. near State Route 292 after clocking his 2025 Honda Accord at 90 mph and observing it cross lane lines several times.

Hawkins admitted to drinking “a little bit” and showed signs of impairment during field sobriety tests, deputies said. He was arrested and taken to the Logan County Jail, where a breath test registered 0.146 blood alcohol concentration.

Hawkins was released to a sober driver.
