Troopers of the Marysville Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol responded about 4 p.m. Friday, Oct. 3 to a three-vehicle crash on U.S. Route 33 about 1 1/2 miles west of State Route 347.
Troopers report Cory Walters, 31, of Lakeview, was driving a 2018 Chevrolet Express Van in the right westbound lane of U.S. 33, when he struck the rear of a westbound 2018 GMC pickup truck with trailer that was stopped because of vehicle-part debris in the roadway. The impact pushed the GMC into the rear of a 2018 Honda CR-V, also traveling westbound and stopped because of the debris.
The GMC’s driver, Paden Lopez, 38, of Wapakoneta, and the Honda’s driver, Amy Price, 40, of Dublin, each sustained minor injuries and were transported separately by Tri-Valley EMS to Mary Rutan Hospital.
Walters, who was reportedly not injured, was cited for failure to maintain assured clear distance ahead and distracted driving.
Bellefontaine Fire and EMS personnel also assisted at the scene.
Damage was heavy to the GMC and to the Chevy van and minor to the Honda.
Westbound U.S. 33 traffic in the area was delayed for a time.
