Motorists are reminded that the 25th Annual Simon Kenton Pathfinders Bike Tour will be on the roads of Champaign and Logan counties on Sunday, Sept. 7.
Please drive safely and be on the lookout for cyclists in the areas from Urbana to Ohio Caverns, Zanesfield, New Jerusalem and West Liberty. Also, the southern routes are on the bike trail from Urbana to the south and the area of Cedar Creek, Dallas and Woodburn Roads as well as Cedar Bog.
Motorists are asked to maintain a safe distance of at least 3 feet when passing cyclists and slow down, “Share the Road.”
Cyclists can still register for the bike tour online, with a link is available on the Pathfinders website: simonkentonpathfinders.org.
For the bike tour, participants can choose from three different routes according to ability, roads vs. trail — a 15-mile route entirely on the trail; a 25-mile route which is a 50/50 mix of trail and back roads; and the long route, which is almost entirely roads and approximately 62 miles.
The SKP Bike Tour is the largest annual fundraiser for the group each year and helps the Pathfinders to maintain about 28 miles of multi-use trail in Champaign and Logan counties.
