Ben Logan tops WL-S for first victory

Benjamin Logan dominated in its first home game of 2025, recording a 24-0 shutout over West Liberty-Salem in nonleague football Friday.

Coach Paul Jenne of the Raiders said “The defense played lights out. It was a great work of preparation.”

He noted that the offense was powered with the triple attack of Alex Hassel, Diesel Baughman and Jordan Pender.

Ben Logan’s Baughman had 14 carries for 118 yards, while Pender ran 19 times for 101.

For WL-Salem, Beckett Sullivan was 4 of 15 passing for 33 yards. Three of those completions were to Reese Oder for 20. Corbin Wallace had 13 carries for 43 yards.

West Liberty-Salem coach Brad Jarzab said, ”We were not able to get much of a push going. We shot ourselves in the foot with some penalties and dropped passes.”

He added that “we have to do better as a coaching staff to get ready to play. We just need to show our willingness to play a full game.”

Next Friday, Ben Logan travels to Urbana, while West Liberty-Salem goes to Cedarville.

Lakers’ offense comes to life

Indian Lake found their footing on offense in the home opener with a 21-0 shutout over Fairbanks on Friday night.

Lakers coach Jonn Rapp was pleased with the overall effort saying the guys had a good week of practice and the coaches had a well-balanced plan in place. “You could tell at the beginning of the game there was a little bit of cobwebs left over from last week, but it just takes a couple hits and the guys kind of settled in. Once they got the nerves out and settled into the game plan, then they were just thinking about their job, their assignment and that’s when things started to go well for us,”

For Indian Lake, quarterback Bradey Golliday was 10-of-17 for 262 yards with three touchdowns and one interception on the night. He also ran nine times for 37 yards.

Shirk had seven carries for 87 yards.

Reisinger caught four passes for 127 yards, with Bendler making three grabs for 75.

Indian Lake is now 1-1 on the year. Next Friday, they will host Allen East.
