Igor Nesvit, 47, of Naples, Fla., was arrested in the downtown area Saturday, Aug. 23 at about 3:21 p.m. and charged with disorderly conduct by intoxication after he reportedly wandered into two shops on south Main Street and caused issues with customers.
Officers of the Bellefontaine Police Department located Nesvit in the restroom on one of the businesses, noting that his speech was slurred and difficult to understand. Nesvit admitted to having been drinking and was removed from the store. After giving him a chance to make contact with someone to come pick him up, Nesvit refused and was then placed under arrest and transported to the Logan County Jail.
• Rowan M. Scott, 18, of Woodstock, was booked for criminal trespassing and underage consumption at Saturday at 8:13 a.m. following a complaint from a resident on the south side of the city.
Officers found Scott at an address from which he had previously been trespassed. They report that Scott was in such an extremely intoxicated state, he was very difficult to rouse and unable to dress himself. Officers got Scott outside the residence and assisted Scott with putting on a pair of shoes before taking him to the jail.
• Wayne J. Mills, 51, of Bellefontaine, also landed in jail Saturday at 5:17 p.m. after he reportedly made phone calls threatening to burn down his ex-wife’s home.
Following a short investigation and collecting witness statements, police arrested Mills and charged him with aggravated menacing and placed him under arrest.
OVI arrest reported
Mateo J. Rosales, 43, was arrested on a number of traffic charges following a stop in the city Friday, Aug. 22, at 10:59 p.m.
Officers reportedly observed Rosales driving a Jeep in an erratic manner in the downtown area Friday night, with Rosales crossing a double yellow line at one point, making improper turns, and failing to use and improperly using turn signals.
When police made the traffic stop at the Shell gas station, 200 E. Sandusky Ave., the defendant reportedly became belligerent, argumentative and confrontational with officers, exhibiting signs of intoxication, including impaired memory and perception of time, as well as giving inappropriate responses to questions. Officers also noted the odor of burnt marijuana coming from Rosales’ vehicle.
When exiting his vehicle at the officer’s request, Rosales reportedly was unsteady on his feet, showed other signs of intoxication, was unable to provide proof of insurance and continued to verbally abuse the officers. He refused field sobriety tests and at that point was placed under arrest and taken to the Bellefontaine Police Department.
The report states the defendant remained verbally combative and abusive during his arrest, but there were no indications in the report that Rosales became physically violent or threatened officers directly.
Rosales was booked at the Bellefontaine Police Department, where he refused to submit to a urine test, and was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol/drugs, failure to drive in marked lanes, improper turn, failure to use turn signals and expired registration before being lodged in the Logan County Jail.
Felony warrant served
A broken tail light led to the arrest of Ryan A. Sickles, 49, of rural Belle Center at 7:21 p.m. Saturday.
Officers stopped Sickles on north Madriver Street for the broken tail light on his vehicle. When questioned, police noted that Sickles was extremely anxious, with his hands shaking to the point where he had difficulty removing in driver’s license from his wallet.
A check with dispatch revealed that Sickles had a felony capias warrant out for him through the Logan County Sheriff’s Office, a fact that Sickles later admitted to being the cause of his nervousness.
Sickles was arrested on the felony capias warrant and taken to the jail, where he was also given a warning for the brake light violation.
• Officers also report the arrests of Emily Gallant, 32, of Zanesfield, and Kayla Ellis, 30, of Bellefontaine for a failure to appear warrants this past weekend.
